Kingspan Renewables’ accredited seminar focusing on ‘Solar Thermal Technology and Its Applications’ was one of the main highlights at this year’s Plan Expo event at the RDS Simmonscourt (4-6 November 08).
Particularly relevant to architects, structural engineers and builders, this RIAI approved seminar focused on how solar energy can be applied and explained the various types of solar energy systems available and how they differ. In addition, the seminar helped to eradicate any preconceptions on the effectiveness of solar systems.
The presentation was delivered by Alan Hogan, all-Ireland Sales Director, at Kingspan Renewables. Alan is a qualified Building Services Engineer with over 13 years’ experience working with solar energy in Ireland and is one of the most respected experts in the industry. Alan discussed the efficiency levels of a solar thermal system, types of solar collectors available, and current governmental legislation and relevant funding support.
Commenting on the success of the seminar, Alan Hogan reflects:
“We are extremely pleased with the uptake in the seminar and the positive feedback received. Solar energy is not a new phenomenon with working models dating back to the 1760s yet it is still very misunderstood. Within the seminar it was explained how solar technology can now be easily incorporated into a building’s structure seamlessly and can become a design feature.
“With the increase in electricity and gas prices plus the increasing costs of natural resources, solar energy is the best solution as it is easily accessible. Also with the introduction of new Irish and EU legislation, companies are already under huge pressure to look at alternative renewable and sustainable energy sources.”
Alan continues: “The seminar was intended to explain solar technology and explore its benefits. At Kingspan Renewables, we are committed to providing efficient and cost effective solutions to address today's environmental concerns. Our overall goal is to provide solutions towards aiding a zero carbon lifestyle and to inform and encourage other industry decision-makers.”
Kingspan Renewables was established in late summer 2007, when Kingspan Group plc acquired the Thermomax brand of solar vacuum tubes. Thermomax was the Solar Thermal market leader and originator of the respected heat pipe method, effectively creating solar hot water in European climates.
Plan Expo gave Kingspan Renewables an opportunity to interact with those directly involved within the construction industry. The Kingspan Renewables stand showcased the best in solar technology including its original solar tube product – Thermomax. Thermomax collectors were the first products under the umbrella brand of Kingspan Solar.
The Kingspan Solar brand has now grown with the addition of Solamax; a solar PV panel from Mitsubishi and Thermomax FN. Thermomax FN is the newest addition to the Kingspan Solar range and is a 2m2 flat plate high performance solar collector. This series of collectors is produced solely from environmentally friendly and recyclable materials and is ideal for both commercial and domestic use.
With thousands of visitors to the stand, Kingspan Renewables had a tremendous show in terms of interest in the products and direct leads.
