Kingspan Solar Unveils the Ultimate Air Source Heat Pump Package

Kingspan Solar, part of Kingspan Renewables Ltd, is strengthening its portfolio of leading renewable energy solutions, with the addition of its new Aeromax Air Source Heat Pumps. Specifically designed for external use in Northern European climates, the heat pumps can supply up to 100 per cent of Space Heating and Domestic Hot Water to UK homes all-year-round, help reduce energy bills and cut carbon emissions to zero.  The Ultimate Air Source Heat Pump Package was unveiled at Ecobuild 09.

Aeromax Air Source Heat Pumps deliver totally renewable and sustainable energy by extracting and utilising heat from outside air to heat the home and provide Domestic Hot Water and Central Heating. The range is available in three outputs (4.5kW, 9.0kW and 12.0kW) to suit individual requirements and operates to optimum performance all-year-round, no matter what the outside air temperature is. Perfect for UK housing applications, these highly efficient pumps can extract useful heat from temperatures as low as -15˚C and can provide Domestic Hot Water at 65˚C without any supplementary electrical resistance heating back up.

Compact and easy to install, plumbing installation is effortless with simple flow and return connections to both internal and external water circuits. The Aeromax Air Source Heat Pumps can be incorporated into both New Build and existing properties. They are designed to allow straightforward integration with traditional forms of fossil fuel heat sources, such as gas or oil-fired boilers. Virtually maintenance free and with a long lifespan, they work effectively with radiators or underfloor heating and feature dual temperature operation for maximum efficiency. 

To enhance performance levels even further, the Aeromax Air Source Heat Pump can also be coupled with a Range Tribune HE Renewable Energy unvented cylinder.  Designed specifically for use with alternative energy sources, the cylinder features a purpose-designed coil, which allows maximum heat transfer from the heat pump to the stored water. Providing mains pressure Domestic Hot Water for powerful showers and fast filling baths, these cylinders have high levels of eco-friendly insulation for added energy savings.

Commercial Director of Kingspan Solar Ltd, Cameron Holroyd says: “We have carried out extensive trials and have accumulated 600,000 hours of measured performance data from Aeromax Air Source Heat Pump installations in UK homes. Our findings show that the heat pumps can create savings of around £870 on heating bills and almost 6 tonnes of CO2 a year, which makes them one of the most efficient and cost-effective renewable energy technologies available today.

He continues: “They extract around 75 per cent of usable heating energy from the environment, can provide 100 per cent of Space Heating and Domestic Hot Water all-year-round at a lower cost than other fossil fuels and can radically reduce carbon emissions compared to gas central heating systems by approximately 50 per cent.

“Heat pumps offer significant savings over other forms of space and water heating and are now recognised by the Government’s Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP). With this in mind, plus increasingly stringent building regulation requirements, there is no wonder they are quickly becoming a ‘must-have’ particularly among New Build and refurbishments.”

Additional Aeromax Air Source Heat Pump product features:

• Highly efficient - when heating domestic hot water to 65°C the heat pump is around 225% efficient (electric immersion heaters and gas boilers are around 100% and 85% efficient respectively)
• Designed to work efficiently with radiators or under floor heating systems at around 400% efficiency.  The efficiency of a heat pump is measured by a Coefficient of Performance (C.O.P) - this is the ratio of heat output to energy input.  For every 1kW of electricity used by the heat pump, 1-3kW of free heat is collected from the air, delivering in total 2-4kW of energy into hot water.
• Typical comfort space heating is delivered between 35˚C and 55˚C
• Twin compressors in larger models optimise efficiency at all operating conditions
