Varisol unveiled by Kingspan Renewables

varisolCulminating in more than three years in-depth research and development, and a significant financial investment, world-leading innovator in solar technology, Kingspan Renewables is launching its latest product to the world. Varisol is the latest development from the company and is a global ‘first’. Pushing the boundaries of solar technology, it is set to revolutionise the world of solar thermal, thanks to its unique features. From installers to end users, this product will have a massive impact on simplifying the installation process, resulting in greater efficiency, flexibility and lower costs.

Whilst the new product retains all the excellent benefits of Kingspan Renewables’ award-winning Thermomax vacuum tube technology, it has enhanced manifold technology. Using high performance polymer materials, Varisol, is the world’s first completely modular vacuum tube solar collector and has the same durability and life-time guarantee as its predecessor. Each tube will now have a Varisol connector attached, allowing each Thermomax Direct Flow tube to simply click together.

Commenting on the new product, Dr. Patrick Davis, Research and Development Manager at Kingspan Renewables says:
“After three years of R&D and rigorous testing, we are extremely proud to launch this new technology to the market. The product’s inception was a proactive response to market demands. It is both unique and revolutionary – there is nothing else like it. Using advances in material sciences, we have developed increased flexibility, simplified installation and created a precise product which is both cost-effective and highly efficient, making it extremely beneficial to our customers and the end user. Testing took place in extremes of temperature from -60oC – 250oC, giving us confidence that Varisol is suitable for all geographical areas and climatic conditions.”

This new type of modular solar collector has eliminated the use of brazing, welding and the use of copper and aluminium in its production and installation, resulting in lowering its carbon footprint. It’s easy to transport and no heavy lifting equipment is necessary, reducing the overall installation costs on a project. Distributors will also be able to manage stock levels better, as they will only have to stock tubes and not manifolds, thereby facilitating better cost management.

Amongst the vast array of benefits, installers will also be able to offer end users, better and more versatile solutions to design issues, such as dormer bungalows and sky lights, as Varisol allows customers to vary the size of collector they need. Previously restricted to collectors with 10, 20, 30 vacuum tubes, you can now have a collector with any required number of vacuum tubes, for example 7, 13, 24 etc. This also allows the installer to work around an obstruction on the roof e.g. a 12 tube collector on one side of a dormer window and 8 tube collector on the other side.

As one of the leading market providers of solar thermal technology, Kingspan Renewables leads the way in creating efficient, cost-effective solar energy solutions that integrate seamlessly into the design or retro fit of both commercial and domestic buildings. Renowned for its Thermomax products – the market-leading solar vacuum tube collectors – Kingspan Renewables boasts an expansive range of products that has greatly increased since 2007 to include Kingspan Solar flat plate collectors, Aeromax - air source heat pumps and Solamax a PV module from Mitsubishi for solar electricity. Kingspan Solar now has the ability to provide a full renewable energy system, including a range of award-winning Kingspan hot water cylinders.
